The days are longer, the heat, the sunshine and the weekend excursions are a must in summer that help to realize the advantages of summer.

But why is summer the most convenient season for an IVF procedure?

It has been scientifically proven that it is not only animals that have higher conception rates during the warmer months of spring and summer. A woman is also more likely to ovulate and conceive in the spring and summer. The medical community believes that the sun and therefore vitamin D can positively affect the ability to conceive. This is one of the main advantages of Mediterranean countries, such as Greece.

According to a study conducted in Liverpool and presented to the American Society of Reproductive Medicine, conception rates increased from 7.5% in winter to 15.7% in summer.

According to the research, the implantation of the fetus in the uterus and a successful pregnancy is 16% higher during the months with more daylight. Therefore, the degree of sunshine during the summer months seems be quite important.
