Artificial intelligence and in vitro fertilization: how to ensure a successful pregnancy?

Fertility problems are found in more and more couples today. The need arises in order to find reliable solutions in the first “line” of the science of clinical embryology. In vitro fertilization has enabled millions of infertile couples worldwide to become parents and welcome a new member.

In this context, a new system of Artificial Intelligence has come to enhance the process of in vitro fertilization. This brings the parents to be one step closer to fulfilling their expectations of having a child.

Artificial intelligence and in vitro: higher rates for successful pregnancy.

The chances of a successful pregnancy depend on several factors. To a large extent, the achievement of pregnancy during in vitro fertilization is determined by the choice of the “appropriate” fetus. This way there will be a successful pregnancy and the birth of a healthy baby, without any complications. Also, read the helpful article on IVF Success Rates.

At this stage, the new Artificial Intelligence system is part of clinical practice and is “adopted” by modern embryology.

The new technology aims to help embryologists evaluate and select the fetus based on objective criteria. Then they will transfer it to the woman’s uterus, where it will develop.

It is a method that modernizes scientific knowledge. It also focuses individually on each pair, optimizing the embryo selection process and ensuring implantation success rates from the first embryo transfer, with an accuracy of up to 92.5%.

The selection of embryos for implantation has always been an important medical challenge in the process of in vitro fertilization in modern embryology.

Now, with the use of Artificial Intelligence technology algorithms, the process of in vitro fertilization has acquired a “prediction” mechanism. The system, with the guidance of the embryologist, can evaluate the dynamics and quality of the fetus in IVF cycles. It can locate and select the most viable embryos intended for embryo transfer to the expectant mother.

Modern technology is becoming a valuable “tool” in the hands of embryologists.

The new tools of embryologists, combined with their skills and knowledge, create huge opportunities for improvement in the decision-making process of assisted reproduction. Embryologists, thanks to the artificial intelligence system, can now diagnose, among other things, the high quality of embryos that will be more efficient and have a better chance of successful implantation.

How is artificial intelligence performed in IVF?

More specifically, until recently the clinical embryologist relied on experience and some specialized analysis tools. Thus, he classified the samples of the embryos based on their morphological and kinetic characteristics. From these, one to two were selected at a time for embryo transfer and implantation in the uterus of the mother-to-be. However, embryo transfer and implantation were not based on an objective assessment of fetal viability.

With the use of artificial intelligence, the process is upgraded. A statistical analysis is performed that investigates the characteristics of the fetus that are “invisible” and exceed the capabilities of the human eye. Also, artificial intelligence correlates its morphological criteria with a successful pregnancy. Thus, it helps fertility experts to accurately select the “most suitable” embryos.

In essence, a clever algorithm is applied that “filters” the dynamics of a fetus. This is done by analyzing a set of images and data in strictly controlled conditions for the development of the fetus, based on a statistical method and not on the subjective criteria of the respective clinical embryologist.

Hierarchy of fetal dynamics, thanks to artificial intelligence prognostic software in IVF, assesses the ability of the fetus to implant in the mother’s endometrium. It ranks the embryos in a class of chances for successful implantation, from the most to the fewest. The higher the chances of successful implantation, the greater the chances of a successful pregnancy.

In addition, this new method extends to a second artificial intelligence system, in which smart software can be implemented for the first time. In this way the “appropriate” sperm is selected, increasing the chances of the egg’s successful fertilization.

As a result, the application of new technology creates new perspectives in the field of assisted reproduction. Therefore, it changes the “future” of in vitro fertilization, significantly increasing the chances of a successful pregnancy.

  • It achieves the correct choice of the right embryo for implantation, with a success rate that “reaches” 92.5%.
  • It dramatically increases the chances of a successful pregnancy from the1st embryo transfer – read about the embryotransfert.
  • Also, it treats and enhances even the most “difficult” cases of assisted reproduction.
  • It removes the subjective factor for the selection of the “most suitable fetus”, setting objective evaluation criteria.
  • It allows parents to be more informed about the development of their embryos.
With the contribution of artificial intelligence, IVF acquires new precision tools and “allies” to reliably and safely support the journey of parents-to-be who want to have a family.

Modern studies also focus on the ability to identify chromosomal abnormalities and other genetic syndromes in fetuses without the need for biopsy or other known practices. All you need is artificial intelligence.
