Curriculum Vitae
Dr. Aglaia Koutsogiorgou was born in Athens. She studied at the Medical School of the University of Athens, graduating in 1998.
Between 2002 and 2004, she specialized in Gynecology and Gynecologic Oncology at the METAXA Oncology Hospital. In 2005, she continued her specialization in Gynecologic Oncology in the UK, at Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Gateshead, Newcastle — a reference center for oncology cases. Her focus included cervical pathology, colposcopy, and HPV-related infections.
From 2005 to 2007, she further specialized in Obstetrics and Gynecology at university hospitals in Northeast England (Sunderland University Hospital and Darlington Memorial Hospital). She gained experience in high-risk pregnancy units, managing complex pregnancies such as multiple gestations, pregnancies with gestational diabetes or hypertension, and cases with a high risk of preeclampsia.
A significant part of her training was dedicated to investigating and treating infertility. She was actively involved in laparoscopic surgery, participating in a high volume of reproductive and gynecological laparoscopic procedures (e.g., fibroid and ovarian cyst removal, hysterectomies).
During her training, she obtained the Advanced Life Support in Obstetrics (ALSO) diploma and later became a certified instructor, with substantial teaching involvement for both midwifery and nursing staff, as well as junior and senior doctors.
While in the UK, she also focused on family planning and contraception, earning the DFFP diploma.
In 2007, she earned the specialist title in Obstetrics and Gynecology. In 2008, following exams and approval by the Greek Ministry of Health, she was certified to perform and interpret gynecological and obstetric ultrasounds.
She has been a certified member of the Hellenic Society for Colposcopy and Cervical Pathology since 2008.
Since 2012, Dr. Koutsogiorgou has focused on fertility treatments and assisted reproduction. She collaborated with the GENNIMA Assisted Reproduction Center from 2012 to 2018, where she performed numerous IVF ultrasound monitoring cycles, oocyte retrievals, and embryo transfers. She treated a wide range of infertility cases, emphasizing personalized care. Her ongoing goal is to make fertility treatments a clear and stress-free process for patients.
As part of her commitment to continuing medical education, she has attended international conferences on advanced topics in assisted reproduction.
Since 2019, she has been working as a reproductive gynecologist in collaboration with IVF units at IASO, REA, and GENNIMA.
